Our Experience

At TLJ Aesthetics MD, Dr. Jacobson has over 15 years of experience with laser and light treatments using the Photofacial BBL in Issaquah for rejuvenation of the skin. Our patients receive the added benefit of device selection and advanced private training with the very physician who developed IPL Photofacial, Dr. Patrick Bitter, Jr.

Through collaboration over the years, Dr. J is dedicated to providing our patients with the most advanced techniques and protocols. At TLJ, it’s not enough to simply have a device capable of improving your skin—it must be exceptional. And the technique is everything.

At TLJ, we also make every extra effort possible to ensure your comfort during your treatment.

Treatment Details

Areas of Treatment: Most any area of the body with skin can be treated with BBL. The most common BBL treatment areas at TLJ are face, neck, décolleté, hands, and arms.

Treatment Time: 30-60 minutes

Typical Recovery Time: None

Frequency of Maintenance Treatment: 3-5 treatments as early as 4 weeks apart with optimal maintenance treatments every 3-4 months.

A Photofacial using BBL in Issaquah has an amazingly effective technology to improve brown spots, “broken capillaries,” angiomas and other pigment irregularities. Skin is much more supple and smooth with an illumination of light that occurs on the surface for an unmistakable brightness. Our female patients commonly find that they either begin forgetting to use their powder or foundation or use much less of it as a result of the natural beauty and radiance of their skin after BBL.

Studies on Aging Skin (or lack of!)

At TLJ, We love science. We love evidence. We love studies. And two phenomenal studies demonstrate why BBL is the choice of device at TLJ Aesthetics MD, both conducted by Patrick Bitter Jr, MD, and colleagues (published in Cosmetic Dermatology and Journal of Investigative Dermatology).

These studies show that over time, BBL treatments are done regularly not only reactivate genes in the skin responsible for youthful function and appearance but seem to stop the passage of time’s effect on the skin.

A group of women, judged by an expert panel, were correctly estimated as being in their early 40s. They received regular BBL treatments over 10 years and were then re-examined by another panel of experts. After those ten years, they were judged to be in their early 40s… still! This is a phenomenon we have also observed with these treatments at TLJ Aesthetics over the years. It’s no wonder why the protocol we use is called “Forever Young BBL.”

What happens if I stop getting BBL treatments?

The effects of BBL treatments to improve tone, texture, and skin reflectivity and glow will gradually wane over time. While your skin’s appearance will be better for many months, the aging process continues. Maintenance treatments are optimal for long term results.

Is BBL safe?

As with any medical treatment, ensure you are getting treated with a very experienced medical provider. Technique and proper patient selection defines safety. At TLJ Aesthetics MD, no medical complications have ever occurred.

When will I see the effects of BBL?

The cosmetic benefit can be seen as early as 1 week, peaking at several weeks. Additional improvements over time and with repeat and maintenance treatments are typical.

How often will I need to repeat BBL treatments for ongoing results?

Maintenance treatments are ideal for BBL after an initial treatment course—every 3-4 months for most patients.

What are the side effects?

The most common side effects of BBL include temporary, very minor swelling and a snapping sensation at the time of treatment. At TLJ Aesthetics MD, we do everything possible to help prevent and avoid any unpleasant experiences and ensure your treatment is very comfortable.

Do I need to modify any of my activities after BBL treatment?

You can return to most usual activities immediately after BBL treatment with no downtime.

What is the difference between BBL/ IPL and other Laser treatments for rejuvenation?

There are a variety of techniques available to improve tone, texture, lines, wrinkles and laxity of the skin. Different treatments are commonly used together for additive benefits. Many factors are taken into consideration when recommendations are made for you at TLJ. Together we will determine the right fit for you.
